Sanitation Works
- Surface cleaning of roads, streets including lanes and bylanes.
- Collection and removal of site shrubs, tree stems, dry leaves etc. from roads and footpaths.
- Collection and removal of litters, animal wastes, plastics, rubber, and other wastes.
- Supervise the activities of door-to-door refuse collection and its transportation to the solid waste management plant or disposal site.
- Supervise slaughterhouses.
- Make rounds of the town to check unhygienic food products like cut fruits, vegetables, meat etc.
- Collection and removal of debris, road silt, cutting base etc. from footpaths, road margins, and garbage collection points.
- Drain out stagnating water on roads or low-lying areas due to rains, leakage, or pipe breakdowns.
- Carry out disinfection by spraying a mixture of bleaching powder and lime at garbage collection points after lifting garbage and ensure removal within 24 hours.
- Maintain records of land, buildings, machinery, plants, and stores used by the sanitation department, along with registers and stock books as per Municipal Account Code.
- Supervise sanitary staff under charge and transfer subordinate staff as needed for efficient working.
- Attend complaints regarding stray dogs and cattle.
- Regulate public utility services such as toilets and urinals.
- Provide receptacles, depots, and designated places for rubbish collection.
- Demolish buildings unfit for human habitation and insanitary huts and sheds.
- Ensure reporting of dangerous diseases.
- Dispose of infected articles properly.
- Call for information regarding burning and burial grounds.
- Grant permission for the use of new burning or burial grounds.
- Grant permission to close burning and burial grounds.
- Cremation of unclaimed human dead bodies.
- Register and control dogs.
- Regulate meat markets.
- Issue licences to butchers, fishmongers, and poulterers.
- Seize stray or unlawfully kept animals.
- Prohibit nuisances.
